Citizenship - 12.11.2015
EU Commission launches a public consultation on EU citizenship
The Commission wants to know about any obstacles that citizens might be facing in their daily lives as European citizens living, studying, working, shopping or simply travelling within the EU. The Commission wants to hear about potential solutions to remove these obstacles.
Local and regional governments are invited to take part in this public consultation. The deadline to participate is 7 December 2015. -

A conference about how to support towns and regions in achieving their ambitions
Next 18 November we will address how cities are more and more committed to fight global warming and how networks like the Covenant of Mayors can contribute to these initiatives.
The conference "Climate: how to help cities in achieving their ambitions?" will be held in Brussels in the frame of the European Year for development.

A webinar to know what is the Covenant for demographic change all about
The future Covenant for demographic change will aim to gather towns, regions and other public governments aiming to adapt their territories to an unquestionable reality today: Europe's ageing population.
During a webinar next 10 November (from 10h to 12h) our partners from AFE-INNOVNET will further explain the overarching goal of the Covenant, as well as its structure, what will be expected from its members and how to join the framework.

Our global association (UCLG) published a brochure explaining to what extend towns and regions will be involved in the implementation of the new development agenda.

A report about cities and migration
We live in a world which is becoming increasingly urban, where more and more people are moving to cities: nearly one in five of the world foreign-born population resides in established global gateway cities. Such fast rate of rising migration to cities brings with it both risks and opportunities for the migrants, local communities and governments concerned.
The International Organisation for Migrations (IOM) publishes a report highlighting the role of towns when dealing with migration, as well as the urban dimension of mobility. -

Did you know that today women earn over 16% less than men per hour in the EU? And that the gender pay gap represent around 2 months worked for free each year?
On the occasion of European equal pay day (02 November 2015), the European Commission releases an animated infographic explaining some of the reasons behind the gender pay gap. -
European Commission - 28.10.2015
Juncker's Commission adopts its annual work programme
On 27 October, the European Commission adopted a work programme for 2016. Among their objectives, there will be set of priorities in which CEMR is actively involved:
- Migration;
- Implementation of the Digital Single Market;
- Circular Economy;
- Action plan on value-added tax (VAT)

Mayors adapt - 27.10.2015
22 cities were selected to participate in a twinning programme
Lisbon, Lleida, Munich or Rouen are some of the candidates selected by Mayors Adapt to undertake joint initiatives on flood prevention, green urbanism or water management.

CITYnvest - 20.10.2015
New website goes live
Today CITYnvest launches its interactive on-line platform, which provides information on new ways of financing energy efficiency in buildings. The website (www.citynvest.eu) targets mainly European local authorities and aims to support them in development of bankable projects.
