The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) launches new format to discuss renovation in Europe
The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) launches "EU Renovation Lunches", a new online format, which brings municipalities, local and regional authorities and stakeholders from all over the EU together. It provides an open and informal space to exchange about best practices, learnings and difficulties in implementing renovation but also to find partners for cooperation and support.In the first edition of the Renovation Lunch, "Sustainable Building Renovation – Forming the Future", Zlatka Nikolova (Association of Rhodope Municipalities) and Ivanka Pandelieva-Dimova (Sofia Energy Center) will be sharing insights, successes, challenges and learnings of their Rhodoshop project.

CEMR is currently looking to recruit interns as follows:
- 2 interns for policy work for a minimum of 4 months during the period September to December 2023 (exact dates to be agreed)
- 1 intern for the PLATFORMA project for a minimum of 4 months during the period September to December 2023 (exact dates to be agreed)

Green Capital - 11.01.2022
Grenoble was chosen to be the European Green Capital 2022
Grenoble was chosen by the European Commission to be the European Green Capital of the year 2022. Since 2010 and every year, this prestigious title rewards cities strongly committed to transitions and pioneers of an environmentally-friendly urban ecosystem.
The official launch of this European Green Capital year, which is organised by the City of Grenoble and the European Commission, in partnership with the Département de l'Isère and Grenoble-Alpes Métropole, and with the support of the French government, will take place on Saturday 15th January.

Energy efficiency - 11.01.2016
EU Commission launches consultation on the future energy efficiency rules
Since it entered into force in 2012, the Energy Efficiency Directive has set out binding measures to help the EU reach its 20% energy efficiency target by 2020.
Through this survey the Commission aims to collect views and suggestions from different stakeholders, including that of towns and regions, in view of the review of the Directive, expected for 2016.
Should you want to participate, you have until 29 January 2016 to summit your response. -
Energy Union - 18.11.2015
A first annual report on the state of play on energy policies
The first annual report shows that much progress has already been made at the regional, national and European level in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the use of domestic energy sources as well as research and projects funding.
The state of the Energy Union was presented by Commissioner for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič during a press conference on 18 November. The Commission has committed to present these reports annually to take stock of the progress made on energy policies. -

To what extend municipalities, cities and regions have the necessary resources and knowledge to minimise the impact of climate change (extreme weather events, flooding, etc.) in their territories?
To better meet local governments’ needs in when facing climate change, the Commission and its initiative Mayors Adapt, invite you to participate in an online survey by Sunday 7 June. Your answers will help develop and plan future activities and projects to better support the efforts made by local government in this domain.

European Green Leaf Prize - 05.02.2015
If you couldn't take part in the European Green Capital Awards, here's a new competition for you
The European Green Leaf is the new competition for cities committed to the environment. With this award, the European Commission wants to recognize the effort made by small cities (between 50.000 and 100.000 inhabitants) to generate green growth and to stimulate citizens' environmental awareness and involvement.

DG energy explains you how energy efficiency will help in the fight against climate change
Head of Energy Efficiency Unit (DG Energy) at the European Commission, Paul Hodson, has written an article (available in French) supporting the implementation of sustainable energy projects in the fight against climate change. Mr Hodson also explains the different EU funds available for local government to accelerate Europe’s transition to a low carbon society.
