The Congress is the largest gathering of local and regional governments in Europe. It is organised every four years and brings together hundreds of local and regional elected representatives, experts, European institution representatives and stakeholders to debate current topics, to exchange information and to discuss the best practices.

Congress highlights:

A programme rich in ideas, content and discoveries;
A variety of session formats, from plenary and parallel sessions to more intimate and interactive leaders’ roundtables;
A unique networking opportunity, with high-level participants from Europe and beyond attending the three-day Congress;
Easy-to-use communication tools on the event’s website, mobile website and Twitter newsfeed, all available before, during and after the Congress.

The Congress is co-organised with a host city or region in close cooperation with CEMR's member association in the host country. The next Congress will take place in 2020.
